Employee Spotlight - Rachel

Rachel, our office manager, is one of the longest serving members of our team and the first in the office every day! Here we find out a bit more about her...

How long have you worked for JET?
Over 10 years now.

What have been your impressions of the events industry?
An ever changing industry as new technology develops and new event ideas arise, definitely keeps you on your toes.

If you were going to run an event, what would it be?
A magical wonderland (not magic but something like Narnia) and being able to walk into a different world.

First song bought?
U2’s 'Joshua Tree', but then I have 4 sisters so I didn’t really have to buy anything, I could just listen to their music (from Abba, Bob Marley, Bay City Rollers, Motorhead to yes….the Wombles! Although my sister would never admit that).

The song you’d sing at karaoke?
I try to keep away from Karaoke but probably Kylie or Madonna.

Worst job you’ve had (hopefully not this one ;) )?
Spot welding aeriel’s…never again.

Favourite Film?
This is tricky - Elephant Man was the only film that made me cry but then I could not stop laughing at Wayne’s World and nearly sent my drink flying everywhere in the cinema. I love films and have too many that I like to be able to pick an absolute favourite.

Who would play you in a movie?
Me of course.

Favourite Food?
Eton Mess, Chinese, a plate full of roast veg with Yorkshire pudding and gravy, apple sauce, mint sauce, bread sauce and cranberry sauce -  yum.

Favourite Drink?
Spiced Rum, Pimm’s, Brandy and delicious cocktails (oh and a really good cup of tea)!

Favourite Holiday/Place to go on holiday?
Again I don’t think I have a favourite. I loved Venice but then I love Cornwall, Devon, Wales & Scotland.

If you could travel anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?
Everywhere.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Woodwork – I recently invested in a bandsaw and amazingly I still have all my fingers - so far. Also gardening and photography.

What one thing could you never give up?
Breathing….it’s quite essential.

Your biggest achievement?
Hmm, passing my driving test, jumping out of a plane and donating 30 pints of blood (not all in one go!).

Tell us something we don’t know about you.
I got a certificate in Italic Handwriting at Primary School.
