Vicky is one of our highly experienced on-site managers, having worked in the industry for over 20 years!

Our on-site managers are tasked with managing the registration team for the build-up and duration of the show, allowing the organiser to focus on other areas knowing that registration and front-of-house is in our team’s capable hands.

They are there to take any worry away from the organiser, setting up and managing the equipment to make sure it’s ready to welcome attendees. As the first face the visitor will see, our team are welcoming, helpful and friendly, whilst making sure the right people are coming in and managing the queues.

Our on-site team provide the exhibitors with a lead capture service and advise the exhibitors on their chosen device, before processing and uploading the data for sometimes hundreds of exhibitors at an event. Our on-site managers are always available to the organiser, keeping them updated with statistics, and sometimes, due to the experience of each of our on-site managers (having worked at hundreds of events at many different venues), they can even help with the unexpected – they’ve probably experienced it before!

What’s your career history?

My career in the Events’ industry started in 1996, in Sydney, Australia, where I worked as a Conference Co-Ordinator for Info Salons, the leading Australian Registration company. It was a great start where I was lucky enough to work with a great team who were keen to see me progress.

On my return to the UK, I worked as an Account Manager for Show Data Systems for 5 years. There were only 3 full time members of staff when I started, including me! I worked with some fantastic clients on both Exhibitions and Conferences including Compaq, Novell, Centaur and Advanstar to name a few.

I then spent 3 years back at Info Salons in Australia where I set up and ran their Conference Department. My team and I worked on large scale conferences including SAP, Oracle and Gartner. This was a fantastic experience.

I returned back to the UK in 2006 and worked as an Onsite Manager for Show Data Systems which eventually became JET in 2008. It was tough to see our industry hit so hard by the pandemic but it was an exciting challenge to be involved in the reignition of the company where we all worked exceptionally hard in the Autumn of 2021 to achieve this. I am currently working as the Senior Onsite/Manager.

What have been your impressions of the events industry?

I love the fast pace and the variation. It has given me the opportunity to travel around the world and meet some great people along the way.

If you were going to run an event, what would it be?

The Emergency Services Show. Both the exhibitors and visitors are a pleasure to work with.

Worst job you’ve had (hopefully not this one 😉)?

Temp job filing for an insurance company, it was very dull!

Favourite Holiday/Place to go on holiday?

Thailand, I haven’t been there for over 10 years but hope to get back one day.

If you could travel anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?

Tahiti and Moorea. I was meant to visit these places on my way home from Sydney but unfortunately we had to cancel the plans so my aim is to get there one day!

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Running, dog walks, travelling and catching up with friends

What one thing could you never give up?

My friends – they keep me sane!

Your biggest achievement?

My kids even though they drive me crazy.

I used to work at a fruit and veg stall at Circular Quay in Sydney. I loved that job!
