Oliver – Managing Director
Oliver joined JET in August 2017, and he has progressed through the ranks ever since… becoming Managing Director in May 2023. His passion to provide the ultimate service has seen him engage in all aspects of the business. As our new Managing Director, he will bring this experience and determination to ensure JET continues to grow sustainably.
When did you join JET?
August 2017.
Where are you based?
Wallingford, which is, located between Oxford and Reading on the River Thames in England.
What’s your career history?
Experienced in various industries, including the military. I started in retail management and then moved to business services for a global legal firm. I’ve spent time in the financial sector account managing and underwriting payment solutions for merchants. I joined the Royal Air Force, graduated from their military training programme, and have supported HM Armed Forces since. I specialised in project management for companies like RM Results and Bicester Village before starting with JET on a temporary engagement.
I started at JET to support an operationally busy period, and I very quickly became an integral part of the team due to the enthusiasm I had for the business and industry. Over my five years in the industry, I have supported countless events end-to-end and led vast business and service improvements. Now, I am the company’s Managing Director, pioneering the industry’s future with my colleagues and counterparts.
What have been your impressions of the events industry?
I have been impressed by the fast-moving, quick-thinking, incredibly dedicated, and passionate people.
If you were going to run an event, what would it be?
An event which brings together life-saving technologies and solutions to multi-disciplined emergency services.
The song you’d sing at karaoke?
Rockstar by Nickelback – Or perhaps Andrea Bocelli’s featured contribution to Perfect by Ed Sheeran.
Worst job you’ve had (hopefully not this one 😉)?
I have not had one; maybe I’m just fortunate.
“The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
– Steve Jobs.
Favourite Film?
Legend – The true story of the rise and fall of London’s most notorious gangsters.
The other (not-so-secret) answer is Disney’s film Mulan – for Donny Osmond’s sing-along song “I’ll Make A Man Out Of You”).
Who would play you in a movie?
Robert Downey Jr., due to his time performing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the role of Iron Man.
Favourite Food?
Homemade Nachos. Tasty, easy to make, hard to burn, isn’t it?
Favourite Drink?
I enjoy Whiskey, Port, and Gin. An old fashioned for an evening out.
Favourite Holiday/Place to go on holiday?
I love visiting Cyprus for my family and friends, the late-night tapas, and to see the outstanding beauty of the island.
Cyprus, also known as the jewel of the Mediterranean, is one of the few places in the world one can ski in the morning and take a dip in the ocean in the afternoon.
If you could travel anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?
Egypt, I have always wanted to visit the pyramids.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Extreme sports are my type of fun to feel the adrenaline. Sports like: Rock Climbing, Motorsports, Skydiving, Shooting, etc.
What one thing could you never give up?
An adventurous life.
Your biggest achievement?
Originally it was my Royal Air Force graduation. More recently, my biggest achievement is having led JET’s return after the pandemic closed down the industry. We’re now continuing to smash growth targets by focusing on delivering an amazing business service.
Tell us something we don’t know about you.
I’m a decent shooter with various rifles and handguns. Whenever I get the opportunity, I target practice at a club.
