Employee Spotlight - Alex

As Head of Operations, Alex leads multiple teams of Event Managers, Logistics, Production, Support and On-Site Managers. They deal with all post sale delivery and ensure our clients receive the best possible service from the event kick off call all the way through to running the event onsite.

With Jonas Event Technology providing services to over 200 events a year and with Alex having been with the company since 2010, he certainly knows how to deliver event registration.

Let's find out a bit more about him...

How long have you worked for JET?
9 years.

What have been your impressions of the events industry?
Well when I started, I had no idea the exhibition industry was so vast. It baffled me that there were all these events about some pretty random stuff, but means that every industry has an associated event.

If you were going to run an event, what would it be?
It would be a festival – booze, food, music, comedy etc. Somewhere with guaranteed good weather though.

First song bought?
Absolutely no idea. I think the first proper album (excluding Now compilations!) was 'Definitely Maybe' on tape, which I wore out twice and had to replace.

The song you’d sing at karaoke?

Worst job you’ve had (hopefully not this one ;) )?
Not a proper job but I used to make a bit of cash at uni by signing up to be experimented on by PHD students, I am sure some of those weren’t good for the brain…

Favourite Film?
I like variety, so not good at picking favourites (might make these questions hard…), but it would be a Wes Anderson film, probably 'Rushmore' or 'The Royal Tenenbaums'.

Who would play you in a movie?
Someone taller, funnier, and better looking than me. So there would be plenty of choice! 😂

Favourite Food?
I love my food! Thai food is right up there.

Favourite Drink?
Beer, a strong IPA.

Favourite Holiday/Place to go on holiday?
Rarely go to the same place twice, but I’d go back to Australia in a heartbeat if it wasn’t so far away!

Alex Australia

If you could travel anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?
I think Japan.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I have a 1 year old, so can’t really remember what spare time is… but I think I used to watch a lot of sport, go to the cinema, play football, watch stand up, go to gigs and festivals, read, grow a bit of veg and head to the pub. Now I still do those things, but just very rarely.

What one thing could you never give up?
See answer to favourite drink.

Your biggest achievement?
My daughter, she’s great.

Tell us something we don’t know about you.
I don’t think there’s anything interesting you don’t know about me that I am willing to share. 😉
